Probate courts monitor guardianships

Terry W. Hammond delivered a briefing on the current status of Governor Rick Perry’s investigation of Family and Protective Services Adult Protective Services to the Rotary Club of El Paso on October 7th.
Mr. Hammond first introduced a 12-minute documentary on Adult Protective Services.
This documentary highlighted El Paso adults who suffered as a result of faulty investigation by Adult Protective Services. It also showed that these APS problems are endemic throughout the State Mr. Hammond called the Rotarians to action and requested that the organization push the Governor and the State legislature for badly-needed reform of the Agency.
Mr. Hammond stressed the need for local control and accountability over the protective service system and the need for state funding for indigent guardianship service. |

Terry W. Hammond, Attorney at law, was recently recognized by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) El Paso on October 7th. Mr. Hammond was honored "For Supporting the Rights of the Mentally Ill in Our Community," and was presented the award at NAMI's annual vigil for the mentally ill, held at the El Paso Psychiatric Center.
Mr. Hammond is a nationally recognized advocate for the aged, disabled, and mentally ill. |
